LEIGH DRAGOON was raised in a log cabin in the Adirondacks, where she developed an early love of reading and writing. She became a fan of Little Women at age nine, after Beth’s demise made her bawl herself to sleep. This led to a lifelong appreciation of the book. After years of annual rereads, she became fascinated with learning about Louisa May and her family.
She adapted both Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy and Marie Lu’s Legend series into graphic novel scripts. She has also written two prose Adventure Time novels: Queen of Rogues and The Lonesome Outlaw.
ANGELA DE VITO is a freelance animator, storyboard artist, and character designer working in NYC. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Animation in 2014. Since then she has worked on animation for commercials and series pitches. Angela has worked for such studios as Hornet, Inc.; Titmouse, Inc.; Aardman Nathan Love; Click 3X; CHRLX; and Disney
Digital Network. She also animation directed Comedy Central Digital’s Loafy, created by Bobby Moynihan.
She lives with her family and her two adorable, rambunctious cats.

Reasons to read: beautiful artwork and a classic story-line.
Personal rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ this easy book will enchant younger audiences, but may leave older readers wanting more.
What first drew me to this graphic novel was the cover. It promised an epic catalyst and a brave heroine willing to risk everything for the boy she loves.
Evony was orphaned as a child and adopted to a different kingdom. Her unique abilities to sense familiars (witch's minions) make her an asset. She's always had her sights on Ammon, the prince, despite her feelings never being reciprocated. One night, Ammon takes her out to hunt familiars when tragedy occurs.
A witch steal Ammon's heart and, to make matters worse, his sister is kidnapped. Without a thought, Evony travels to the Witchlands to retrieve Ammon's heart and save Nissa.
I loved the color palette in this book. The characters were unique and well-written.
I finished this novel with more questions than answers. I wish it were longer since we did not get much backstory with Evony and I felt Nissa's kidnapping working simultaneously with Ammon's stolen heart gave me whiplash. I do like the classic story and the gender flip where the princess saves the prince and I think younger readers will truly enjoy it. I'm curious to see what the next book has in store.
