If you all have read The Cup and the Prince, you know how the ending shook us with that cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. Zora and my cinnamon roll, Griffin escape the palace at Griffin’s brother tried to murder him. But before Zora can claim her winnings, she and Griffin head to her home in Dark Valley to heal up. Oh, but Griffins curse gets in the way, and causes all kinds of ruckus. Meanwhile, his two brothers are in the midst of their own shenanigans. The cup, which is rightfully Zora’s, may be the key to breaking Griffin’s curse.
Oh, but it isn’t that easy, and you know it.
I read this book in about a day and a half. The style of writing made it easy to read. I loved the banter between characters, and the court intrigue. But what drew me into this installment was the vulnerability Leito writes into her characters. We see a side of Griffin we didn’t see in book one. Zora is a powerhouse in her own right; fierce, loyal, smart. She’s everything you want in a protagonist.
Ok, look. Sequels are rough. 98% of the time I hate book twos in any series. It’s like authors put everything they have into the first books and run out of ideas by the time they sit down to write book two. This isn’t the case here. AT ALL.
AND HOLY #(RUJBVKU)($ this book ends on another cliffhanger and I am now typing with one hand because the other one is wiggling about in front of me, begging for book three. WHAT WILL BECOME OF MY BABIES???? Will the curse get broken? I NEED TO KNOW.
Barring the fact that I scared the cat off the bed in my scream of frustration last night, I had the best time reading these books. I’m so happy (and mad at the same time) that there’s a book three!
Get this series if you like witty banter, royal murderous brothers, secrets, curses, YA romance and kissing and lots of action.
